What you'll do
- Base is looking for Apprentice Electricians to join our field installation crews in Northern Illinois.
- This is a unique opportunity to help launch Base Power's first operations outside of Texas. As an Apprentice Electrician, you'll work alongside experienced electricians installing home backup battery systems while learning the trade through hands-on field experience. You'll play an important role in helping establish the foundation for our Illinois operations while developing the skills needed to advance your electrical career.
- What You'll Do
- Hands-On Field Support: Assist electricians with installations, repairs, troubleshooting, and general electrical tasks
- Installation Assistance: Help with pulling wire, mounting equipment, installing battery systems, and preparing job sites
- Quality & Compliance Support: Follow instructions to help ensure installs meet inspection requirements and internal quality standards
- On-Site Learning: Work alongside experienced electricians to build practical skills and real-world electrical knowledge
- Tool & Material Management: Organize tools, stage materials, and help keep job sites clean, safe, and efficient
- Emergent Support: Participate in occasional after-hours or weekend work as needed to support urgent field needs.
- What You'll Bring
- Credentials: Enrolled in or eligible for an electrical apprenticeship program in Illinois preferred
- Experience: 0–2+ years of construction, electrical, or hands-on trade experience is a plus, but not required
- Mindset: Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and a "do it right" attitude
- Communication: Ability to follow directions, ask good questions, and work well with a team

The Field Operations team serves as the tactical engine of Base's mission, bringing distributed energy storage directly into customers' homes. As part of our inaugural Northern Illinois team, you'll help establish the operational foundation for a brand-new market while learning from experienced electricians and working with cutting-edge energy technology. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.
