Small-UAS brushless motor assembly line opens
Tobyhanna Army Depot opened a scalable domestic assembly line for brushless DC motors used in small uncrewed aircraft, with capacity of up to 500,000 motors annually.
The Army cut the ribbon on a new advanced-manufacturing mission at Tobyhanna Army Depot in Pennsylvania. Its brushless DC motor line creates an organic industrial-base source for a critical small-UAS component and is designed to reduce dependence on foreign suppliers. Army officials said the facility can scale to more than 500,000 motors per year.
