Batavia dry pet food factory opens

Purina opened a $550 million, 1.3 million-square-foot dry pet food factory in Batavia, Ohio, its first ground-up new factory since 1975 and its 24th U.S. factory.

The Batavia factory is already producing Purina Pro Plan, Purina ONE, and Dog Chow. Purina said the site currently employs more than 430 people, is expected to exceed 500 employees when fully operational, and is designed to help feed about eight million pets annually. The plant uses automated storage and retrieval, robotics, and digital manufacturing tools.
