GlobalFoundriesNYMalta

GlobalFoundries was selected as technology provider and operator for two planned semiconductor fabs at its Malta, New York campus. Japan will fund the initiative, with an initial roughly $10 billion investment for a 300mm fab expected online in 2029 and an additional roughly $10 billion contemplated for a second fab. The company says the two fabs would each add about 900,000 300mm wafers of annual capacity, while the first is expected to break ground later in 2026.
