The product
Capella, a wholly owned IonQ subsidiary, designs, manufactures, and operates U.S.-built synthetic-aperture-radar satellites. It delivers high-resolution day-or-night, all-weather imagery through automated tasking and APIs, and added taskable InSAR monitoring for millimeter-scale ground movement in 2026.
The thesis
Commercial SAR supplies persistent observation through cloud, smoke, darkness, and adverse weather for national security, disaster response, maritime awareness, and critical-infrastructure monitoring. Capella's U.S.-built constellation and NRO work provide a domestic radar-intelligence layer, while IonQ is pursuing a forward-looking quantum-secure networking integration.
