The product
Castelion builds Blackbeard, an air-launched long-range hypersonic strike weapon designed for industrial-rate production, together with vertically integrated propulsion, guidance, avionics, and manufacturing processes. Project Ranger is its 1,000-acre Rio Rancho, New Mexico campus for solid-rocket-motor production, static testing, and final assembly; the company is also developing a longer-range strike system and defensive systems.
The thesis
The U.S. military needs both lower-cost long-range strike options and enough domestic production capacity to field them in meaningful quantities. Castelion is attempting to compress development cycles while designing manufacturability and owned production infrastructure into the weapon from the start.
How it runs
Castelion operates as a vertically integrated defense prime: private capital funds rapid internal design and flight testing, while service contracts support integration, certification, manufacturing, and deliveries. Work on the new Navy production order will run through Project Ranger and the Torrance, California facility.

The September Navy action is a production delivery order with a stated total value of up to $200 million; that ceiling should not be treated as booked revenue, and the number of production rounds was not publicly disclosed.
Why it wins
Castelion combines rapid flight-test iteration, vertical integration, commercial manufacturing methods, and a dedicated energetics and final-assembly campus.
