The product
Firestorm combines xCell containerized expeditionary manufacturing with the modular Tempest UAS family, the additively manufactured Squall FPV platform, payloads, and manufacturing software. xCell packages industrial additive manufacturing and process control for field production of Firestorm aircraft, repair parts, and qualified partner designs.
The thesis
In a contested logistics environment, centralized factories and long resupply routes are vulnerable. Moving qualified production closer to users can shorten repair and replacement cycles, regenerate attritable aircraft, and keep units operating when shore or rear-area supply is delayed.
How it runs
Firestorm co-designs UAS and the manufacturing system used to make them, combines its own products with partner production rights and established printing technology, and supports deployments with training, materials, quality control, and sustainment. Government development and procurement programs run alongside venture-funded manufacturing scale-up.
How it earns
Revenue sources include government R&D and procurement tasking for xCell and UAS, finished-aircraft deliveries, manufacturing-system deployments, integration, training, sustainment, and potentially materials and qualified-design support. The $100 million Air Force IDIQ and up-to-$30-million APFIT selection are ceilings or potential funding, not booked revenue; Firestorm does not disclose annual revenue.
Why it wins
Firestorm co-designs the vehicle and the factory, then proved xCell in adverse maritime conditions: aboard USS Essex it printed more than 1,000 parts, built 12 Squall FPV drones, and trained service members during a two-week RIMPAC transit.
