The product
Pipedream Labs builds networks of buried pipes through which small autonomous robots move packages between businesses and homes. Their mini-tunnel-boring hardware and pipe-routed robots aim to move goods through cities as cheaply and ubiquitously as data on the internet.
The thesis
Last-mile delivery is one of the largest sources of urban congestion, emissions, and labor cost in the US. Building physical infrastructure for goods movement — and doing it with American-made tunneling and robotics — is a foundational reindustrialization play that competes with both delivery gig labor and offshore-built drones.
How it runs
Pipedream designs and implements fully electric underground rail systems for retailers, restaurants, developments, and cities, handling both rapid business retrofits and multi-mile new-construction networks. It commercializes through partner deployments and pilots such as Wendy's Instant Pickup and the Peachtree Corners logistics network.

For its Instant Pickup product, Pipedream publicly quotes a $50,000-$100,000 installation cost; pricing and recurring economics for larger city, grocery, development, or network projects are not disclosed and appear to be negotiated per deployment.
