The product
Plasma-based reactors that use heated hydrogen plasma to strip oxygen from metal oxides, producing pure rare-earth metals like dysprosium and samarium without the pollution of conventional heat- or water-based refining. Operating from a Campbell, CA lab with a five-person team aiming to produce kilograms of pure metal per day.
The thesis
Targets the 'missing middle' of the rare-earth supply chain — converting metal oxides to pure metals — a step almost entirely dominated by China and a critical bottleneck for U.S. defense, EV, and clean-energy manufacturing. Domestic, lower-pollution metallization at competitive cost is one of the highest-leverage reindustrialization wedges.
