Peter Swartz is co-founder and chief scientist of Altana, where he leads the data-science work behind the company's federated supply-chain AI. Before Altana, Swartz was head of data science at Panjiva, where he built the trade-classification and AI models that anchored the company's product before its 2018 acquisition by S&P Global. He left Panjiva alongside Evan Smith and Raphael Tehranian to start Altana in 2018, betting that supply-chain intelligence had to be built on a privacy-preserving federated architecture rather than a single centralized data lake. His work focuses on graph models of global commerce that learn from billions of shipment, ownership, and facility records.
