Ryan McLinko co-founded Astranis with John Gedmark in 2015 and leads the company's spacecraft engineering. He earned BS and MS degrees in Aerospace Engineering from MIT, where his master's thesis specifically tackled the structural design of low-cost, rapid-development satellites, the exact thesis Astranis would later commercialize. Before Astranis he was a spacecraft engineer and mechanical/electrical lead at Planet Labs designing CubeSats, a systems engineer at Sierra Nevada working on Dream Chaser flight controls, and an intern at SpaceX and United Launch Alliance. McLinko sits on the boards of SEDS-USA and is part of the cohort of MIT-trained aerospace engineers who pushed small-satellite design out of the lab and into commercial GEO.
