Tom Mueller is the founder and CEO of Impulse Space, the in-space transportation company building chemical propulsion stages, orbital tugs and Mars-class landers. He was employee number one at SpaceX and the architect of the Merlin, Draco, Super Draco and TR-106 engines that put Falcon 9, Dragon and Crew Dragon into operation. He served as SpaceX's Propulsion CTO before transitioning to senior advisor in 2019 and retiring at the end of 2020. Mueller founded Impulse in September 2021 to give every American spacecraft, government or commercial, a way to actually move once it gets to orbit. The company closed a $300 million Series C in 2025.
