Zane Hengsperger is the founder and CEO of Nox Metals, a Detroit-based, AI-powered metals supplier rebuilding the U.S. industrial base by running raw aluminum, steel, and tube through fully automated, software-driven factories that ship same-week. A 2022 University of Michigan graduate and member of Y Combinator's Summer 2025 batch, he revitalized a Detroit wartime factory as Nox's first site and is running it on a custom internal stack he calls NOX NEST. The company is currently live with aluminum plate and block and is expanding into steel, tube, and sheet, betting that legacy service centers - middlemen-heavy and manual - are the slowest link in American manufacturing. Nox has raised roughly $5 million in pre-seed funding.
